Siva is a brilliant teacher. My DD had always struggled with maths and was attempting the 11+ test. I had a general tutor to start with, but it didn’t work well because my DD was lacking foundational knowledge. I tried to help her myself, but it became clear that she needed targeted support , especially because she had now less than 4 months left until the 11+ exam.
After she did the initial assessment, Siva created a plan on what to cover each week. Siva is a gifted teacher, he has the gift of making the topics easy to understand and addressing all the kids’ worries calmly and confidently.
I will never forget my DD’s first lesson with Siva, she finished the lesson happy and more confident about the topics she had learnt during the lesson. She used to be very nervous about maths and didn’t believe she could do it easily. Before each lesson, Siva would ask her about the topic they were going to cover, and her response was usually that it seemed very difficult. However, by the end of every lesson, Siva would ask her the same question again, and she would confidently say, "It’s so much easier now." This approach challenged her negative beliefs about maths. She gained a better understanding of the ‘why’ of the maths calculations rather than just memorising steps. I watched her confidence grow, and maths started to make sense to her.
The homework was differentiated and she started by doing the silver tasks progressing to bronze and gold tasks with ease.
Thanks to Siva’s expertise and approach, my DD not only got the maths skills she needed, she also passed the 11 plus exams.
